He was born in 1965 in Izmir. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in İzmir. He graduated from Ege University Faculty of Dentistry in 1987. In the same year, he entered Ege University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Pedodontics as an assistant. He became a doctor in 1994, an associate professor in 1998, and a professor in 2004. He completed his military service at Gölcük Naval Hospital in 1994.
He worked in pre- and post-doctoral programs at the Universities of Nijmegen in the Netherlands, Glasgow in Scotland and Helsinki in Finland.
In 2000, he took part in the founding team of Ege University Erasmus LLP programs. He worked as the Erasmus programs coordinator of Ege University Faculty of Dentistry, and Ege University European Union Youth Programs (Youth) Coordinator.
He took part in the board of directors and delegation of the Izmir Chamber of Dentists, and served as the Chairman of the Izmir Chamber of Dentists’ Board of Directors and a member of the Supervisory Board of the Turkish Dentists Association between 2014-2017.
Prof Dr Rıza Alpöz, who speaks English very well and has nearly 200 scientific articles and presentations, is married to Ege University Faculty of Dentistry, Maxillofacial Radiology Department Lecturer Prof Dr Esin Alpöz, and is the father of Berker Alpöz, Dentistry.

Prof. Dr. Rıza Alpöz
Prof. Dr. Rıza Alpöz was born in 22.08.1965 in Izmir. He graduated from Ege University Faculty of Dentistry, in 1987 and started working as an assistant in Pedodontics department in the same year. During 1991 and 1992, he continued his PhD studies at the Faculty of Dentistry, Nijmegen University, The Netherlands, using Turkish Council of Higher Education scholarship and earned his PhD in 1994. In June 1997 he worked as a guest researcher in Oral Microbiology and Pedodontics Department of the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Helsinki, Finland. He became an associate Professor in 1998 and Professor in 2004. Alpöz, who has published more than 200 publications , is married with Esin Alpöz, who is a Professor of Maxillofacial Radiology and is the father of dentistry student Berker Alpöz. His foreign language is English.
