He was born in 1965 in Izmir. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in İzmir. He graduated from Ege University Faculty of Dentistry in 1987. In the same year, he entered Ege University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Pedodontics as an assistant. He became a doctor in 1994, an associate professor in 1998, and a professor in 2004. He completed his military service at Gölcük Naval Hospital in 1994.
He worked in pre- and post-doctoral programs at the Universities of Nijmegen in the Netherlands, Glasgow in Scotland and Helsinki in Finland.
In 2000, he took part in the founding team of Ege University Erasmus LLP programs. He worked as the Erasmus programs coordinator of Ege University Faculty of Dentistry, and Ege University European Union Youth Programs (Youth) Coordinator.
He took part in the board of directors and delegation of the Izmir Chamber of Dentists, and served as the Chairman of the Izmir Chamber of Dentists’ Board of Directors and a member of the Supervisory Board of the Turkish Dentists Association between 2014-2017.
Prof Dr Rıza Alpöz, who speaks English very well and has nearly 200 scientific articles and presentations, is married to Ege University Faculty of Dentistry, Maxillofacial Radiology Department Lecturer Prof Dr Esin Alpöz, and is the father of Berker Alpöz, Dentistry.
